ATHLETIC RULES AND REGULATIONS

A. Conduct

* All athletes are to conduct themselves in a manner as to reflect the Christ-centered objectives of Concordia Lutheran High School in and out of school, as well as in athletics.

*Athletes are to be clean, neat and well-groomed, in season or out of season, since, as an athlete you are constantly in the public eye and are representatives of Concordia Lutheran High School.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! All athletes agree to and sign the Concordia Lutheran High School Extracurricular/ Co-curricular Code of Conduct which is given to them at the beginning of the season.

THIS CODE IS IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE TWELVE MONTH YEAR!

*Concordia Lutheran High School athletic equipment is to be worn or used for practice sessions and athletic contests only. Uniforms are to be worn to classes only when asked to do so for a special occasion by the coach. Any violation of this rule may result in an athlete being
declared ineligible.

*AN ATHLETE IS FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ATHLETIC EQUIPMENT ISSUED TO HIM/HER.

* An athlete should wear only the equipment issued to him/her and should not permit its use by another person. Equipment is school property and will be picked up from an unauthorized wearer.

* Equipment of other schools is not to be worn by Concordia athletes at any time.

* All equipment is to be turned in promptly.

*Athletes who are no longer a member of the team are to turn in their equipment within one week.

* All athletes who complete the season in a sport are to turn in their equipment within the deadline established by the coach. Violations of this rule could result in failure to receive an athletic award or disciplinary measures.

C. Attendance
* Class attendance and attendance for practice should be excellent. Unexcused absences or tardies could result in ineligibility and loss of position on the team.

*It is the responsibility of the athlete to PERSONALLY inform the coach in advance of any anticipated absence or tardiness from practices and/or contests.

* An athlete must be in attendance the last three classes of the day in order to participate in a practice or inter-school contest that day. Exceptions to this rule must be cleared by the athletic director and the coach prior to the absence.

D. Medical Care
* Concordia Lutheran High School is not responsible for injuries of any type, whether they are received in the sports program or not.

*Athletic injuries should be immediately reported to the coach or to the head athletic trainer so that he or she might recommend the medical attention that should be given to the injury. THIS IS IMPORTANT OR MORE SERIOUS IMPAIRMENT MIGHT RESULT.

* Injuries requiring immediate attention will be treated by the team physician, certified trainer, or emergency room at a hospital if it is impossible to contact the family unless a parent indicates otherwise in writing prior to the start of the first practice.

*Students properly certified to participate in interschool athletic activities, who are absent from school for five consecutive days due to illness or injury or who are physically unable to practice for five consecutive days due to illness or injury, must present to their principal a statement from a physician holding an unlimited license to practice medicine that they are again physically fit to participate in interschool athletics.

E. Insurance
*All students participating in interschool athletics are required to have accident insurance. If you believe that your family policy is adequate, you will not have to purchase additional insurance. However, if your son or daughter is not covered, or if you desire additional coverage, it can be purchased through Concordia. There is a special plan for all football players of grades 10, 11 and 12. All other athletes who compete in our programs as listed on page 3 can be covered through the basic insurance plan which you receive(d) in your August mailing.

*If you do take out athletic insurance through the school, it is imperative that you or your son/daughter secure an accident claim form from the Student Services' Office within a week or so after the accident.

*Athletes are covered by a catastrophic insurance plan for expenses in excess of $10,000. This program is especially designed for the athlete who sustains a severe injury or one which could necessitate special equipment, etc.

F. Transportation
*Athletes will be expected to travel to and from "out-of-town" contests with the team unless otherwise arranged by the coach. "Out-of-town" contests are those other than the schools in the Summit Athletic Conference
(SAC).

*Athletes will be expected to get to the home contests on their own.

G. Requirements PRIOR to participation.
*.Before the first practice, the complete IHSAA Student-Parent-Physician Certificate must be turned in to the
Athletic Office.

* Before the first contest, the Concordia Lutheran High School Extracurricular/Co-curricular Code of Conduct
must be turned in to the Athletic Office.

*Each athlete MUST HAVE A SCHOOL SUPPLIED LOCK for use during practices. They are to be purchased
at the school bookstore. They become the permanent property of the athlete.

H. An athlete who quits a team during its season.
An athlete who quits a sport after cuts and/or the first interschool competition is ineligible to participate with any
other team (practice, weights, conditioning) until his/her level of participation has been completed. (Frosh, Reserve
or Varsity)
