Students are required to take five semesters
of religion during a four-year program at Concordia. All freshmen
take one semester of Old Testament and one semester of Christianity
and the Bible; all sophomores take one semester of New Testament;
all juniors take Saved By Grace. Seniors have no required courses
to take but they must choose at least a one semester elective. Sophomores,
Juniors and Seniors may select beyond their one semester of required
religion as their schedule allows.
The Bible used is the New International Version.

Topics in Social Science (Christianity and the Bible) (8903)

Credit 1 – Semester
PREREQUISITE: None
This course is designed to acquaint the students with the use of
the Bible in exploring interpersonal relationships as they are typically
experienced by high school freshmen. Some of the topics covered
are: worship, friendship, parental relations, stewardship of life,
witnessing, and Christian vocation.

Biblical Literature I (Old Testament)

Credit 1 – Semester
PREREQUISITE: None
This course looks at the history of God’s Old Testament people
as well as the literature they developed. It emphasized the ways
in which God deals with man in history to bring about salvation
and the hopes of the people of God as they look forward to their
deliverance through the Promised One of God. The class considers
problems faced by contemporary society in the light of God’s
Word.

Biblical Literature II (New Testament)

PREREQUISITE: None
This course is a study of the history and literature of the New
Testament with special emphasis on the Gospel of Luke and book of
Acts. Christ is presented as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy,
as the Good News for mankind, and as Lord and final Judge of heaven
and earth. Several epistles and the book of Revelation may also
be studied.

CHRISTIAN ETHICS (8836)

PREREQUISITE: None
Students develop scriptural principles to apply as they examine various
ethical questions. They review God’s promises to them, and are
asked to recommit themselves to learning and living His will for their
lives. They wrestle with questions related to sex, the human body,
marriage, government, and interpersonal relationships. Finally, they
apply scriptural guidelines independently throughout their lives.

This is a study of Christianity, cults, and other religions of the
world. It is to help students equip themselves with the knowledge

This course takes an in-depth look at the last nine books of the New Testament especially the book of Revalation. Students will be led to recognize the supremacy of Christ, to submit to His authority, and to rejoice in His triumphant return.
SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP (8916, 8917 – Alternate Days) Elective – 11, 12
Credit 1 – Semester
The Koinonia Group
leaders, the members of this class, are nominated by members of
the CLHS family, submit an application, evaluated by the faculty,
and selected by a special committee. The class is composed of the
selected junior and senior students. This course prepares the chosen
Koinonia Group leaders to serve their small groups in prayer and
study of the Holy Scriptures in order to address the issues that
currently confront the youth of Concordia Lutheran High School.
The participant leaders will receive one religion credit. This course
is in addition to the required course in religion for the junior
and senior years.
