The CLHS Social Studies Department

Our Mission:

The mission of the Social Studies Department of Concordia Lutheran High School is to help ensure that students become life-long independent and interdependent learners who can make informed, reasoned decisions and take action for the public good as a Christian citizen in a diverse, democratic society and in a dynamic global community.

About Social Studies at CLHS:

  • The department offers an A.P. class in United States History during the Junior year.
  • For the Core Forty requirements, 6 credits of Social Studies are required , among which the student must take U. S. History (2 semesters); U.S. Government (one semester); and Economics (one semester).
  • To complete the 6 credits required for Core-40, it is strongly recommended that the remaining two credits be in World History/Civilization taken during the Freshman or Sophomore year .
  • The student may also select 2 semesters of World Geography; or one semester of Sociology; and one semester of Psychology.
