CAN-struction

CAN-struction is a friendly competition between area high schools whose intent is to fight hunger in our area. Concordia’s team is supported by the CLHS community to help students raise money to buy enough canned food to build a structure. This year-long effort culminates with the “build” at Glenbrook Square Mall and a week-long public viewing of the amazing structures. All food cans are then donated to the Community Harvest Food Bank. Fort Wayne’s event is one of the largest food collections in the nation as measured by weight.

Activities: Students help plan and design the can structure, build interest and awareness, advertise the effort and raise funds to procure cans to build with, participate in other member support activities, and learn organizational skills and teamwork.

Requirements: Open to any student interested in helping fight hunger. Meetings are held every Wednesday after school and the first Friday of each month during lunch.
