Host a Student

As we gear up for another year at CLHS we are excited to host 11 students from our sister school in Dalian, China. These students will stay with families just like you. Some of our faculty and staff are already interested to be hosts but we have many students left to place with host families. If you are interested I encourage you to look over the FAQ we have created for being a host family. It is available here. If you are interested in hosting please fill out the quick form, and we’ll be in contact with you within a couple of days with an application and to arrange a time to discuss the program further.
Here are a few important pieces of information.
  • You will be provided a stipend of $800 a month for hosting a student. That is designed to cover any normal food, entertainment, toiletries (except specialty items), and any items/stuff you’d normally purchase for high school-aged family members living in your home.
  • You will need to provide a bed, desk, chair, dresser, and place to hang up clothes. A private room is preferred.
  • You will need to provide transportation to/from school and school-related activities.
  • Students will arrive sometime after July 27, 2018 and be with us through graduation in June 2019.  They will have some pre-school orientation sessions that they will need to attend. You will also need to be able to meet them at the Fort Wayne International airport upon their arrival, a CLHS official will also be there.
  • These students come from a non-Christian culture. However, students will be expected to attend services with their host family on whatever schedule they normally participate at whatever church they normally go to, participate in family devotional/prayer life, as well as take Theology classes at CLHS and participate in chapel and Koinonia.
If you are interested, spend some time and talk it over with your family, look over the FAQ, and fill out this form and we’ll be in contact with you!
