Mónica Benavente-Romey joined the faculty in 2020 as a Spanish teacher. She is a native of Lima, Peru and received B.A. and M.A. degrees in Spanish Language, Literature, and Cultures from Cleveland State University. She studied at the Universidad de Granada in the summer of 2017 and spent one year from 2014-2015 studying French in Paris. Prior to teaching at Concordia, she taught Spanish at Purdue University Fort Wayne, Tri-C Community College, Cleveland State University, and St. Francis and St. Clare schools (Cleveland, Ohio). She lives in Fort Wayne with her husband, who is a professor of Musicology at Purdue University Fort Wayne. In her free time she enjoys reading, cooking Peruvian food, and traveling.
