2019-2020 Faculty and Staff Accomplishments

  • The Entire CLHS Faculty (along with all teachers in Indiana) was awarded as Teacher of the Year Award by the Indiana Department of Education for their terrific ministry and work during the nine weeks of Remote Learning (March 16-May 20).
  • Chris Murphy was awarded Teacher of the Year by The Lutheran Schools Partnership of NE Indiana.
  • Vicki Ober, Director of Counseling, retired after 23 years at Concordia and with 40 years in education.
  • Trevor Campbell was appointed as CLHS Student Activities Director, coordinating Student Council and student club activities.
  • Concordia deeply thanks and is grateful for the service and ministry of Elizabeth (Lizzy) Hoham and Josh Mertz. Mrs. Hoham is spending more time at home with her family while continuing to lead her Koinonia group. Mr. Mertz accepted a call to Milwaukee Lutheran High School to teach physics.
  • Brian Loesel earned a Master in Education degree from Concordia University Wisconsin.
  • Trevor Campbell had his artwork featured during Artlink's 42nd Annual Member's Exhibition and was the 2020 River Camp Supervisor for the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Tavis Schlicker started a new term as the Indiana Choral Directors Association Region 2 Chairman. Mr. Schlicker was invited to conduct a regional middle school honor choir for Circle the State with Song and the Steuben County High School Festival Chorus.
  • Deaconess Dr. Debbie Rockrohr completed her service the past four years as President of the Concordia Deaconess Conference.
  • Lillian Anderson and 10 of her students from Fashion and Textiles Students made 150 face masks for essential workers.
  • Rhonda Freeman, a volunteer in our library, made more than 500 masks for essential workers in hospitals, grocery stores, and schools.
  • Mychal Thom continues serving as a VanLunen instructor/leader.
  • Patrick Frerking was a cohort and presenter in the Principals’ Academy on Internationalizing K-12 Schools across Indiana, sponsored by the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies at Indiana University Bloomington.
  • Ashley Wiehe continued to serve on multiple committees with the international fundraising and marketing organization, ALDE. 
  • Sean Gibson, Social Studies Teacher and Swim Coach, received Sectional Swim Coach of the Year.

  • Eric Kaschinske, nominated for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

  • Art Teachers, Kylee Heisler and Trevor Campbell had artwork on display at the St. Francis University Gallery during their Educator’s Exhibition.

  • Kyle Jane presented on the effective sequencing of AP Chemistry curriculum at the HASTI Science Teachers.

  • Laura Bohnke presented her experiences and methodology of integrating AP Environmental Science and General Environmental Science classes at the HASTI Science Teachers conference.

  • Andy Morris and Chris Brune led a group of 20 students and parents to the 75th-anniversary remembrance ceremony at Normandy Beach (France). The group also visited Paris and Berlin during their studies of World War II.

  • Crystal Castleman and Laura Bohnke led a group of our students to Costa Rica in June for a study of rainforest and intertidal zone ecology.

  • Paula Booth (Spanish Teacher) and Laura Bohnke (Environmental Science Teacher) have led the effort of creating a Butterfly Sanctuary by planting milkweed and other butterfly-attracting plants in Concordia’s Our Creator’s Classroom.
