February is Dental Health Month

February is Dental Health Month. From the American Dental Academy, caring for your mouth is as important as caring for the rest of your body. Cleaning teeth and gums removes a sticky film of plaque. Plaque contains harmful bacteria that can cause tooth decay & cavities. Ways to prevent tooth decay:

  • Start at home with brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes.
  • Avoid sugary beverages or foods
  • Have biannual appointments (twice a year, every 6 months) with your dentist for routine teeth cleanings and exam

If anyone has any questions about finding a dentist or not being able to afford seeing a dentist, please come see me in the Nurse’s Clinic.
