February is Dental Health Month. From the American Dental Academy, caring for your mouth is as important as caring for the rest of your body. Cleaning teeth and gums removes a sticky film of plaque. Plaque contains harmful bacteria that can cause tooth decay & cavities. Ways to prevent tooth decay:
- Start at home with brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes.
- Avoid sugary beverages or foods
- Have biannual appointments (twice a year, every 6 months) with your dentist for routine teeth cleanings and exam
If anyone has any questions about finding a dentist or not being able to afford seeing a dentist, please come see me in the Nurse’s Clinic.
