Relief Effort for Ukrainian Refugees in Slovakia

Lumi Olejar, from Roznava, Slovakia, was a CLHS student during the 2017-2018 school year when her father, Rev. Jergus Olejar, was doing doctoral studies at Concordia Theological Seminary. Rev. Olejar is requesting your help with ongoing relief work with Ukrainian refugees. Click here to see their video.

The United Nations estimates that there are now in excess of 2 million Ukrainian refugees as a result of the war with Russia. As of March 11, over 165,000 of those have fled to Slovakia. Pastor Jergus Olejar and his parish are located 1 hour west of the Ukrainian border. His church and those in his circuit are heavily involved in the relief effort. They are trying to meet the most basic needs of food, clothing and shelter for the women and children that are streaming into the country.

Holy Cross Lutheran Church is collecting funds to help support the Olejar’s in this relief effort. You can give electronically at holycrossfw.org. Click “Give” on the top banner and then select “Ukrainian Refugees in Slovakia” in the Fund dropdown menu or send funds to 3425 Crescent Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with “Ukraine” in the memo.

Rev. Olejar is a supported missionary of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Slovakia.
