The 2022 FAQs

2022: Frequently Asked Questions

The following questions are snippets of what I have frequently been asked by this year’s students:

  • Do I need my Biology book today?
  • Is there a quiz/test today?
  • Is there a study guide for that?
  • Can I borrow a pencil?
  • Can I use the bathroom?
  • Can I eat in your room?
  • Did you see the snow?
  • Can we go to lunch?
  • Can I use my phone for this?
  • Do you have a bandaid?
  • Is there homework due today?
  • Did you see the dog in the park?
  • Is meese the plural of moose?
  • What am I missing?
  • Can we work with a friend?
  • Can I have a sheet of paper?
  • Can I open the window?
  • Can we turn on/off the AC?
  • When are we changing seats?
  • Did somebody bring a snack today?

While some of these questions are frequent, others are entertaining, and something I’ll laugh at over the years. The important questions aren’t always about homework, or food, or bathroom breaks, or the wonderful views out my classroom window. Often we forget to focus our questions on the most important person, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  As we put a pause on some of the above FAQ for summer break, I hope you will consider the following question: How is the love of Jesus evident in my life?

Philippians 2:1-4

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Heavenly Father,

Let my life this summer reflect the same love you have for me. Guide me to do nothing out of selfish ambition, but to live a life of humility. Allow my words and actions to bring joy and comfort to those around me.

Amen.
