“Our parents made tremendous sacrifices to ensure our Christian education. The B.L.A.S.T founders believe it is our duty to give back to students, in our parents' memory," BLAST President Michael Edmonds said. “Dontrell and Mahelat have demonstrated educational excellence and a commitment to community service. We wish them well in their collegiate careers and we will be following their progress.”

Dontrell will be attending Ball State University to study business, and Mahelat will be attending Indiana University Bloomington to pursue health sciences.

The Trailblazer Award is named after the first two African American CLHS graduates, Peggy Greer Calloway (Class of 1954) and Richard J Ridley, Jr. (Class of 1956).
