Start With the End in Mind

I am a hard-core planner. Like, over the top planner. Whether at work, home, and even on VACATION, I plan. When working on any project, I start with the end in mind. What do I want it to look like? Who would enjoy whatever it is I am creating? How will this affect those around me? These are some of the questions I ask myself when undertaking projects and tasks. I start with the finished product in my head and work my way back from there, formulating strategy and benchmarks along the way to achieve the desired result.

It is never lost on me at this time of year of what the “end product” was at the birth of our Savior. As the angels shouted the great news to the shepherds and lifted their voices in praise, our God took on human flesh and became one of us….to die. To die in our place, to pay the terrible price for our sins. That horrible benchmark of suffering, torment, and humiliation led to the real “end product”. A stone rolled away from the tomb entrance and our salvation assured because of Christ’s victory over sin, death, and the grave.

So as these final days of Advent pass by, remember what that manger scene leads to….and the peace that is ours in the end. I have no words to express how grateful I am for God’s perfect plan. May the peace and joy of this Christmas season fill your hearts and minds with the love of our Savior. Merry Christmas, Cadets!
