A word from a new member of the CLHS community

The 2016-17 school year is in full swing with classes, homework, presentations and exams occurring on a daily basis. Our co-curricular activities are bustling with energy and pride as sports teams and fine art groups have started their events and seasons. Go Cadets!

It is very exciting to be a new member in the Concordia Lutheran High School community. This community has a rich tradition and heritage in developing the minds of servant-leaders, forming faith by sharing Christ in classrooms and through activities among generations. The influence of the high school is felt on campus and around the world by our alumni and community members.

I arrived in Fort Wayne in late June, and in my short time here, I have encountered numerous people who speak with pride and respect for Concordia. The community of Fort Wayne is proud of this school and are very thankful for the foundation of faith, service and academics, which we have provided the past 82 years. People want to be in this community, evident by the number of CLHS alumni who serve on staff or in other ministries in and around the city. My family are honored to be added to this list of proud Cadets!

Our theme for this school year is Seeking Knowledge and Wisdom with Christ in the Center, based upon Colossians 1:9-10.

Our verse calls us into action (to walk), for a purpose (bearing fruit), with a promise (increasing in the knowledge of God).

Before moving to Fort Wayne this summer, my family had been living in Asia the past 23 years, serving as missionary teachers and administrators of international schools in Hong Kong, China and Vietnam. I never would have planned that God would call me and my family to serve in foreign countries, but we are thrilled that we have, gaining insight, understanding and cultural awareness in a very unique manner through life-changing experiences. God has held my hand and carried me through numerous exciting adventures and challenges during my expatriate years, and now He has called me here to CLHS.

The students and community of Concordia Lutheran High School have been a blessing both close to home and in Earth’s farthest corners for generations. I am excited to serve in this community, bringing experiences that God has purposely planned for me, to see where He will continue to send each and every one of us.

Go Concordia!
