The 5K Run/Walk is in honor of A.J. Arnett. SPC Arnett, a 2004 CLHS graduate and a JROTC Battalion Color Guard Commander, who was deployed to Iraq with the 3rd Infantry Division in January 2005. On July 13, he was seriously wounded in a car bomb attack. Suffering shrapnel and blast wounds to his leg, he underwent multiple surgeries to repair the extensive damage. At one point, he was told that he would never run again, but he persevered and continues to run multiple long distance events.
