Vitamin D is one of the vitamins we are starting to hear a lot more about and is only naturally present in a few foods. It is essential for our bone health in preventing osteoporosis and may protect us against colds and in fighting depression. Vit D has other roles in our body as well: cell growth, boosting our immune system, reduction of inflammation, preventing autoimmune disease and cancer, and in regulating mineral levels in our systems.

Giving Up. These two words alone can provide a very negative connotation. After all, so many messages that we hear, and rightfully so, are designed to motivate us to keep going!

Winter sports awards for the 2014-15 school year.

When your senior student completes graduation practice, they will receive their senior packet. This includes some cute and nostalgic items from grade school, BUT, it also contains their current immunization record (as I have it). This is very important to pull and keep in a safe place.

These students have achieved perfect attendance and perfect punctuality during the 2014-15 school year.

It seems like the word “rest” has no business being talked about in the month of May at a school. There is no doubt that there can be a mad race to the finish line, with many, many events going on, finals coming up and general school year wrap up items pending. A brief look at my calendar shows that I will have many opportunities to experience end-of-the-year events and activities as well — and I am grateful for that.

In March, CLHS Latin students took the National Latin Exam, a test given nationally and internationally to more than 100,000 Latin students. Sophomore Jackson Wagner received a special award for having a perfect paper. Only 1,004 students out of more than 140,000 around the world received this distinction.

It was the trip of a lifetime for more than 65 Concordia high school students. They served on mission trips over the summer through their association churches, locally and abroad.

For the first time in school history, a Cadet was named the Gatorade Indiana Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
