I have known that I wanted to be a teacher since second grade. There was never any doubt or hesitation, so when I began teaching in the fall of 1999, I did so with enthusiasm and confidence. I was a young teacher, only 21 when the school year started, separated from my students by only a few years but ages of life experience.

When I first entered teaching, I dreamed of enlightening young minds and empowering young people to reach their full potential. I never dreamed that I would learn far more than I would ever teach.

Concordia Lutheran High School is hosting summer camps for all ages this summer. Camps range from athletics to band to robotics and everything in between. I love Lutheran schools. I believe in the mission and ministry that is possible within Lutheran schools. I respect the tradition of educational excellence that has been and continues to be a part of our schools.

Area middle school students are invited to enter the 19th Annual Middle School Bridge Design Competition held at Concordia Lutheran High School.

A funny thing happened the other day in my class. I have an assignment where I ask students to list their top 10 favorite TV shows as well as their top 3 least favorite shows. Usually there is some disparity between their answers (my wife and I don’t agree on the “best” shows, so how can I expect high school students to find common ground), but one student’s reasoning is what threw me. He hated a particular sitcom because of the “laugh track.”

I LOVE WORLD GEOGRAPHY! And you should too. Not only that, but you should have a deep desire to learn about our world (and love it in the process!). Spoken like a true Geography teacher, right? And maybe being a Geography guy is the only reason I get excited, but hang with me and you might just agree.

A group of 77 Concordia Lutheran High School students and 14 chaperones will take on Washington, D.C., later this month in support of pro-life. This is the largest group to date from Concordia to go to the March for Life.

Congratulations to Addison Agen, Concordia junior, for her tremendous success on NBC’s The Voice! Addison’s performance and success provided tremendous pride throughout our school and the Fort Wayne community.

As a mom of two teenage students, I remember leaving the safety of the grade school that they attended for almost a decade. The school that I served as a room mom for numerous classrooms, helped with PTL events, chaperoned dances and volunteered on committees. What now?
