Revised IDOE Graduation Guidelines and AP Exam Schedule

Monday, April 6, 2020

Hello Concordia,

Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope you found some rest wherever your mind virtually traveled to last week. Concordia might be on to something as we had 99+% attendance today in our Remote Learning. Congratulations students for your commitment to your learning!

Last week Governor Holcomb announced that all schools in Indiana would be closed through the rest of the school year. At the same time, the IDOE (Indiana Department of Education) released Revised Graduation Guidelines for this year’s seniors. The IDOE will be providing further guidance later this week, but in summary, a Senior will graduate when:
  • the student has met all course and credit requirements based on a combination of credits earned and enrolled in as of March 19, 2020 (school closure order), and
  • meets Remote Learning participation requirements established by the school, and
  • meets any additional graduation requirements established by Concordia prior to the school closure order on March 19, 2020.
We are currently working to put together a plan for what Remote Learning will look like in May. For now, continue the great work that you are doing on Remote Learning! You can view the current calendar here

The College Board, who organizes the Advanced Placement (AP) program, announced the new AP Exam dates of May 11-22. The AP Exams have been pushed back one week from their original dates and modified. AP Students will receive specific details of this year's modified AP exam for each course. Highlights include:
  • All AP exams will be 45 minutes, scheduled at 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM, to allow synchronous testing throughout the USA.
  • Taken at home on a student's device (phone, iPad, computer),
  • Open notes, textbook, and internet, with added layers of security.
In addition to the above information, we will continue to work through the direction we will take regarding many of the end-of-year activities, including graduation. We are assessing the information we have now, and seeking further guidance from state and local health officials to determine our best course of action. We are looking into options as far as rescheduling events into the summer and the possibility of this. As soon as we learn more we will be in communication regarding these important end-of-year events.

Please continue to exercise proper handwashing, social distancing routines, and stay at home.

God’s blessings on your journey through Holy Week,

CLHS Administration
