A year of changes and blessings

Dear Concordia family,

For the past three years I have contributed a blog in early October as a way of summarizing the service projects performed by 60-plus Koinonia groups for Concordia's annual Service Day. This year is different.

While 2020 has had its share of changes in this case, the postponement of Service Day to a date TBD in the spring good things are still happening at CLHS!  Here are a few highlights so far this school year from my perspective:
  • School started in person, and it has remained that way.
  • Teachers and students are glad to be back at school.
  • Chapel and Koinonia have been modified so that both happen in person each week.
  • Homecoming week gave many a greater sense of "normalcy."
  • Christian Leadership students have enhanced Koinonia with weekly slides for talking points.
Speaking of Christian Leadership: This class first ran in the fall of 2019 with two emphases: worship and servant leadership. About three weeks ago when it was determined that the annual alumni worship service would not be held in person, our Director of Development Services Wendy Bentz suggested that the Christian Leadership students provide an online worship service. This came together in amazing fashion thanks to the coordinated efforts of numerous students and the recording studio at Worship Anew.  See for yourself!

God continues to bless Concordia with all we need for Christ-centered educational excellence that equips individuals for lifelong learning and service as disciples of Jesus Christ. In other words, the mission continues! Thank you for your prayers and support. As we slowly gear up for what Service Day will look like in the spring, feel free to pass along your ideas for service learning projects to [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you.

Peace in Jesus,
Mr. Mark Dolde
