Moments

I think that we can all agree that the end of the 2019-2020 school year was rough. It's safe to say that 2020-2021 was hard, with everyone in masks, everything regimented, anxiety heightened, rules constantly changing, uncertainty, and even losing the perks of eating lunch anywhere in the building. Even after all that, I would have to say that 2021-2022 has been my most challenging year as a teacher.

I don't know if it's the "new found freedom" and craziness that has come with it, or the mere exhaustion of coming off the last two years. Teachers are leaving the profession at an alarming rate (and I would be lying if I said it hadn't crossed my mind), but every time, on those days where I feel completely defeated, God always nudges me. He sends me a reminder of why this was what I was called to do.

Sometimes it's an e-mail, a comment in passing, or a student stopping by to have a heart-to-heart conversation. Those moments, those relationships, are what keep me going and doing His work.
