The Spring Semester often brings a sense of chaos rather than normalcy for students and teachers alike. Spring is riddled with extracurricular trips and events, music tours, competitions, games, and, of course, the unpredictable nature of winter in Indiana. When all is said and done we often ask ourselves if all of those “extra” events were truly worth it. It is my hope that students, educators, parents, and administrators can answer that question with a resounding, “YES!”.
The A Cappella Choir will be on tour in Michigan from February 5-9th. Pulling 40 students out of class yet again made me stop and think about the benefits of a trip of this nature.
Music tours provide numerous benefits to our students. One of the main benefits is marked by improvement in musicianship. Performing in different venues and with different audiences can challenge students to adapt their skills and improve their musicality.
Choir tours can also help students to develop a sense of community and teamwork. Traveling together and performing together can create strong bonds between students. These bonds can last a lifetime and can be a source of support for students throughout their high school careers and beyond.
Choir tours are a valuable and transformative experience for students, providing them with opportunities for personal growth, cultural immersion, and musical development. Through choir tours, students can gain a deeper understanding of the world around them, develop important life skills, and improve their musicianship.
The benefits of choir tours for music education are numerous and long-lasting, making them a worthwhile investment for any ensemble or music program.
