Teamwork in Action: How LSGO Makes Christ-Centered Education Possible for More Students

“Teamwork makes the dream work.” That’s a phrase we all know and use. It helps that it’s mostly true. If you want to accomplish something, teamwork helps. Whether it’s an extra set of hands helping lift a heavy appliance for a simple home improvement project, or if it’s a team of people solving a difficult problem, we can accomplish more working together. That is a foundational reality here at CLHS.

It’s foundational because this school doesn’t exist without teamwork. This school is the result of more than a dozen congregations working together to provide excellent education for their students and the community at large. It’s lived out each day, as the students get assigned to group projects, and learn the ins and outs of managing workloads and personalities; skills that they will use throughout their lives! It’s also an obvious reality in taking “A Bold Step”. It isn’t just one person who will make the difference, it will take a lot of us.

These are all obvious ways teamwork is a part of the reality here at CLHS, but there is another you should be aware of, and not too many people are. It’s an organization whose impacts are bigger than this school even, and affect all of our community here in Fort Wayne. They enable learning in a real and tangible way, and their efforts often go unnoticed and unsung. The work of the Lutheran Scholarship Granting Organization (LSGO) enables students to access the finest education we offer here.

The LSGO grants funds to students that fills in the gap between school costs and school choice. Since 2012, they’ve provided over $33,000,000 to more than 26,000 students. While choice has done a lot to give access to education, what happens inside our schools would still be inaccessible for many, if not for LSGO. They help to cover the ever increasing cost of education, and keep it accessible to as many people as possible. They can’t do it alone, though, and what they do can’t happen with just a few, it takes a lot of people to make it happen, and you can be part of that, too. Teamwork makes the Lutheran Education dream work.
