JROTC cadet earns HIP scholarship

c/LTC Gavin Seifert, CLHS AJROTC Cadet Battalion Commander was awarded the 2018 HIP (Hip Pocket Scholarship) on March 10 at the SGM Paul Gray Drill Meet in Radcliff, Ky.

The HIP Scholarship is awarded by the Commander, 7th Brigade, U.S. Army Cadet Command to a cadet in the 7th Brigade. Cadet Command's 7th Brigade is responsible for almost 4,000 Senior Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) cadets in 38 host colleges and universities, and more than 35,000 Army Junior ROTC cadets in 219 schools, in the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.

Cadet Seifert was selected based upon his academic success, athleticism, citizenship and a personal interview with the Brigade Command, COL Lance Oskey.

The HIP Scholarship is to Ball State University and is valued at $52,100.
