Let’s get fired up

Summer is coming to an end, and school is getting ready to start. SOOOOOO … LET’S GET FIRED UP FOR CONCORDIA ATHLETICS!

We are excited to start another year here at Concordia. God has blessed Concordia with many talented athletes and teams, and therefore we have been able to share many good memories. We are glad to inform you that the Athletic Department has started their own Facebook Page! We will be posting scores, highlights, videos, pictures, and general announcements so please check it out! We hope that this helps you stay involved and updated with what is going on in the wild world of sports.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT SPORTS?

Is it the atmosphere, the band, friends, family, cheerleaders, food, the excitement of competition or is it as LUKE BRYAN says “Friday night looks better under neon or stadium lights.” Sports are such a blessing because they bring men and women both young and old together. Concordia has so much to offer in all aspects including the following sports:

  • FOOTBALL
  • VOLLEYBALL
  • BOYS/GIRLS SOCCER
  • BOYS/GIRLS GOLF
  • BOYS/GIRLS TENNIS
  • BOYS/GIRLS SWIM & DIVE
  • BOYS/GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
  • BOYS/GIRLS TRACK & FIELD
  • BOYS/GIRLS BASKETBALL
  • BASEBALL
  • SOFTBALL
  • WRESTLING
  • GYMNASTICS
  • CLUB SPORTS- LACROSSE, BOWLING, & ROWING (CREW)

I do not know about you but I look forward to all the sports because they all teach major life lessons that the athletes will use their entire life. Participating in a sport teaches leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and how to become stronger with failure or disappointment. It is not all about being the best or the win, it’s about the journey.

I would like to share a few quotes with you from some famous people.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” ~ Written by the Apostle Paul (Philippians 4:13)

“I think my greatest victory was every time I walked out there, I gave it everything I had. I left everything out there. That’s what I’m most proud of.” ~ Jimmy Connors (one of the greatest tennis players in the world)

“I’ll do whatever it takes to win games, whether it’s sitting on a bench, waving a towel, handing a cup of water to a teammate, or hitting the game winning shot.” ~ Kobe Bryant (famous professional basketball player)

I never realized until I took the position as the Athletic Administrative Assistant here at Concordia how much goes into the WILD WORLD OF SPORTS. So many people are involved in making an event happen and for it to run smoothly. The trainers, coaches, managers, referees, facilities, the fans, athletes, cheerleaders, the band, score and book keepers, transportation, and concessions. We are so blessed to have athletics in our lives especially here at Concordia Lutheran High School with Christ at the Center.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity.

See you at the game!

Sarah Hellinger,
Athletic Administrative Assistant
