This year, seniors enrolled in English Literature were asked to write two poems: one saying goodbye and one saying hello. The assignment’s intent, more so than evaluating achievement of standards, was to allow the seniors a place to reflect on the changes they had and were about to experience in their lives. I didn’t realize the poems would produce a more significant theme.

I am a Concordia graduate. Some of the teachers I had are still here and even the classrooms feel the same, smell the same. Yet it’s all very different. I’m now teaching with the teachers who taught me, and my classroom is the same one I took AP Statistics in while I was a student here.

COVID-19: School is Closed, but Learning Continues

Concordia Lutheran High School is working closely with local public health officials to protect the health and safety of our community by slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Interviewing the Future

For my junior AP English class, we always end the year with creating a college portfolio. Students gather information to use for applications in the fall. They draft application essays, create or update a resume, draft a business letter to request a recommendation, and fill out a college application, among other things.

Drop off and Pickup Days on May 27-29

From Wednesday, May 27 to Friday, May 29, we are welcoming students back to campus in a limited capacity to retrieve materials and clean out lockers as well as returning CLHS items, such as books, computers, art supplies, music, etc. to the school. Seniors will also be walking across the stage in a “virtual graduation” for a photo and video. You are assigned a day to come based on your last name. It’ll be important that we honor those days as much as possible to limit any potential bottlenecks of students. See link for all details.

Summer Classes are still continuing

Summer Classes are still continuing

I have been in charge of coordinating our summer school program here at CLHS for the last four years, and I wanted to get the word out that we are still planning to hold summer school this year despite formatting changes due to social distancing guidelines! Just as we have in the past, we are planning to offer a wide range of classes throughout two different sessions that students can take either for recovery credit or to work ahead on graduation requirements.
