Have fun exploring the wonderful world of computer programming by learning Java, C#, app development with Thunkable, and Lego Mindstorm robotics. This hands-on beginner’s STEM camp is designed to teach first-time computer scientists the basics of programming using three different languages, their favorite Disney characters, and robots! In Java and C#, you will learn computer syntax, declarations, assignments, and working with object-oriented languages. In Thunkable, they will develop apps for their iPhone or Android device. In robotics, campers will learn valuable problem-solving methods, engineering concepts, and computer skills as you design, build, program, and compete with working robots.
Never programed a computer or built a robot before? No problem! The emphasis of the camp is to provide an energetic atmosphere with a focus on teamwork, problem solving, collaboration and having fun learning to “speak” computer.
All you need to bring is your creativity and basic keyboarding skills. Students may also bring their own laptop (please contact Scott Storm so that your laptop can be setup before the camp). Register by May 15 for your Summer of Code USB flash drive containing all computer languages used in the camp so that they can work from home where the coding never has to stop! Please plan to bring a sack lunch.
