Have fun exploring the wonderful world of computer programming by learning Visual Basic, Java, and Lego Mindstorm robotics. This hands-on beginner’s STEM camp is designed to teach first-time computer scientists the basics of programming using three different languages, their favorite Disney characters, and robots! In Java and Visual Basic, you will learn computer syntax, declarations, assignments, and working with object-oriented languages. In robotics, you will learn valuable problem-solving methods, engineering concepts, and computer skills as you design, build, program, and compete with working robots.
Never programed a computer or built a robot before? No problem! The emphasis of the camp is to provide an energetic atmosphere with a focus on teamwork, problem solving, collaboration and having fun learning to “speak” computer.
All computer languages used in camp will be provided to each student for FREE so s/he can work at home where the coding never has to stop. Just bring is your creativity and basic keyboarding skills!
Students may also bring their own Windows laptop (please let us know on the registration form if you plan to bring your own computer). Register by May 14 for your Summer of Code t-shirt and a camp USB Flash drive. Please plan to bring a sack lunch.
