Computer Camp—Raspberry Jam: Video Game System

Computer Camp—Raspberry Jam: Video Game System

Get ready for Pi, Raspberry Pi that is. In this camp you will learn all about the credit card-sized Raspberry Pi computer as you construct a retro multi-platform video game system featuring consoles such as Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Playstation, Sega Genesis, and 80’s arcade classics like Pac-Man, Joust, and Donkey Kong. Don’t let the fun fool you! Campers will gain basic computer science experience utilizing image files, ROMs, hardware and software, I/O devices, operating systems, boot sequences, SSH/SFTP networking and so much more. Sound too technical? No worries. This is a beginning CS camp so no experience is necessary. Register by May 12 for your Raspberry Jam USB Flash drive containing all materials used in camp.

All campers will have the option to keep their finished game system complete with cables and controllers. Details on ordering it will be sent as we get closer to camp start date. The estimated cost for the take home game system is expected be around $150. This is an optional camp add-on and not required for camp participation. Campers who do not purchase their own system can use our materials at no additional cost. Please bring a sack lunch.
